A boiler break down in winter can be the difference between life or death for a vulnerable person. 

DEPHERDisabled & Elderly Plumbing & Heating Emergency Repair - have supported over 17,000 people in need with free or heavily subsidised essential plumbing & heating repairs.

During the pandemic they also branched out into helping distribute personal protective equipment and setting up a foodbank for the community.

For the month of October, as the cold season begins in the UK, we will be collecting donations for this brilliant cause.

Setup by James Anderson, a plumber from Burnley, Lancashire in 2017 to combat fuel poverty, DEPHER is mostly reliant on public donations.

The community interest company has a network of plumbers and heating engineers to provide assistance for people who may be unable to afford the cost of their service.

“Three days ago I got an email off a lady, there was a woman in Essex who has an oil boiler and she’d got no heating or hot water. The carer that looks after her contacted me because of it. A company wanted £3,000 upfront payment before they’d even go out and look at the boiler. This woman’s 74, walking around the house in a hat, gloves, scarf – she’s on a pension, she hasn’t got that kind of money. The majority of people in this country haven’t.”
