The National Hemp Service Mission: Why We Do What We Do

Written by the founders, Tommy and Chloe

We are the National Hemp Service - an all-hemp shop and cafe in Finsbury Park, London and proud advocates for the legalisation of hemp and cannabis across the UK.

We aim to become your trusted source of ethical, natural and innovative hemp products.

Our mission is to search out the very best hemp products from around the world and bring them to our customers to show the many great things that hemp can do.

Every product we stock has been carefully chosen by our founders for being ethical, sustainable, natural and high quality.

We want to bring our customers the best, so we only choose products for you that we'd be proud to personally recommend to friends and family.

We believe that hemp has the power to create a better world.

Decades of international hemp prohibition have acted as a barrier to scientific research, entrepreneurial innovation and accessibility.

In 1928, hemp was outlawed in the UK as part of 'The Dangerous Drugs Act', despite being a completely non-intoxicating and safe plant.

In 1993, the outright ban on hemp was replaced with strict regulation and it remains heavily marginalised by government regulation and stigmatisation to this day.

Despite this, dissenting scientists and pioneers discovered that the prohibited hemp plant has over 50,000 uses and can create a huge variety of useful and beneficial products.

Aside from all of the incredible things it can make, just growing more hemp has huge environmental and economic benefits for the countries that are now embracing it.

We think it's high time that the UK embraces hemp again, so we're here to be your go-to service for all things hemp and to show you some of the incredible things that this plant can do.

Growing hemp as nature designed it is vital to our urgent need to reduce greenhouse gases and ensure the survival of our planet.

Hemp is the most versatile and useful plant on earth

Hemp is the most versatile and useful plant on earth, which
should be common knowledge! But it's not - is it?

We think everyone should know that hemp is one of the most sustainable, planet-friendly plants around; it requires no pesticides and very little water, grows quickly with high yields, is incredibly durable and adaptable and even cleans the soil and air as it grows.

So far, over 50,000 uses for hemp have been discovered - it can be used in biofuel, building, textiles, plastic, paper, food, milk, medicine, skincare and more. Hemp was even the first plant ever cultivated by mankind.

Hemp is also one of the most nutritious natural resources, with super seeds that are powerhouses of protein and high levels of CBD, a therapeutic compound becoming increasingly popular in wellbeing and medicine.
